There’s something truly magical about the California coast. The salty air, golden light, dramatic cliffs, and endless shoreline create the perfect setting for beautiful, natural photos. Coastal and beach photography sessions are some of my absolute favorites because they give us the chance to have fun, explore, and create epic memories with one of the most beautiful backdrops California has to offer.
Beach sessions are perfect for weddings, engagements, couples, senior portraits, family sessions, anniversaries, and vacation photos. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply documenting this season of life, the California coast brings a sense of freedom, romance, and adventure to every photography session.
I love photographing at the coast—waiting for that perfect wave to crash behind you, watching the coastal breeze create movement in your hair and outfit, and capturing the natural moments that happen in between. The beach gives us so much to work with, from reflections in the wet sand and crashing waves to dramatic cliffs and golden sunsets. Beach sessions are relaxed, playful, and full of movement, creating photos that feel natural, genuine, and alive.
California is home to some of the most beautiful and diverse coastlines, from soft sandy beaches and hidden coves to rugged cliffs, tide pools, and dramatic ocean views. I photograph coastal and beach sessions throughout Northern California and beyond, and love finding locations that fit the look and feel you have in mind. Some of my favorite coastal locations include:
Rodeo Beach Marin County – dramatic cliffs, sweeping ocean views, and tree tunnels.
Pacific Grove– rocky coves, flower carpets, tide pools, and golden sunsets
Santa Cruz/Halfmoon bay – classic California coastline with sandy stretches and beach town vibes
Bodega Bay- Rocky beaches with crashing waves, golden sunset cliffs, and coastal flower beds
